Good tidings from Fiji

This month we bring good tidings from Fiji – Freewind’s second home in the South Pacific.

Ron left on Freewind at the end of May, sailing solo across the ocean to Savusavu in Fiji. After catching up with old friends there, he set out west to meet up with Freewind’s crew - daughters Eleanor and Melanie, on holiday from university studies – in Nadi. The weather was fantastic and the Yasawa islands were calling, so captain and crew headed off to enjoy sailing, sand and sun in the outer islands, and much-needed relaxation after many months of hard work in New Zealand.

Here are the pictures that tell the story of the clear blue skies, warm untainted water, lush green vegetation, sparkling sand, and the smiling, inviting faces of Fiji.

And before we go, we’d like to share with you a few verses from Jimmy Buffett’s song Delaney (from his 1994 album Fruitcakes)

Father, daughter
Born by the water
Surf's up, sun's down
Life in a beach town

  …

And some of the things I've seen
Maybe she won't have to see
But there's a lot I want to pass along
That was handed down to me

Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life's good on our boat.
